Return of the Jedi Endor Rebel Commander toy watercolour

This is the second time I have painted the Endor Rebel Commando.

The Rebel Commando is now my first Star Wars Trading Card - my scanner is pretty poor quality - the Star Wars logo actually has a yellow background (yet it appears orange in this picture).

Princess Leia in Bespin Outfit (Red hair variation)

I met a really nice vintage SW collector from New Jersey through Rebel Scum (though he mainly posts to the The Imperial Gunnery). The collector's focus is Bespin Leia - he asked me to paint a version of Leia in Bespin Outfit (red hair variation).

Vintage Star Wars Project:

I'm a professional artist, gallery lecturer and avid Star Wars fan. I plan to depict in watercolour the entire vintage Kenner Star Wars action figures.

Back in the mid 1970's Kenner was a small toy company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Then Star Wars happened. Kenner produced a range of action figures from late 1977 until 1985.

A few years ago I had quite a large collection, but I had to downsize (due to space issues, financial issues and a very patient, but exasperated partner, who had come to the end of her tether re: my collecting).

A while back,I struck on the idea of depicting the toys in watercolour, so I could "collect" them without taking up too much space. I have started selling some on eBay, I can't claim that I am reaping a hefty reward for the financial return, but at my own indulgence, I would like to think that maybe they will be collected, cherished, shared, swapped and sold.

Each of the paintings have been date stamped on the day they were completed. The vast majority have been date stamped using black ink and a few have been date stamped using purple ink.

The project has slowly grown to include all my toys from childhood - of which I will feature on this blog in the very near future.
